Dr Aham Onyike
Dr. Onyike is a fellowship-trained and board certified orthopedic surgeon who specializes in joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee. He has built a reputation as a “Patient’s Choice” in these areas. He was recently honored as a “Rising Star” by Super Doctors. His other areas of expertise include general orthopedics, fracture care, work-related injuries, sports medicine, and athletic injuries.
Dr. Onyike is an Assistant Professor in Orthopedic Surgery at Howard University Hospital, as well as an Orthopedic Surgery Consultant at VA Medical Center and Providence Hospital in Washington, D.C. In these capacities, he is involved in medical student and resident education and research as well as patient care. He has gained experience treating extremely complex problems of the hip and knee joint and repairing complications after surgery. He has been published in national medical journals and is a frequent presenter at medical conferences. He is the founder of Avante Orthopedics, a private practice orthopedic consulting and surgery practice in Capitol Hill, Washington DC.
Outside of the U.S., Dr. Onyike has participated in and led orthopedic teams on medical missions to Africa, particularly Nigeria. During these trips, his teams have performed advanced orthopedic care for trauma victims and children with deformities. Dr. Onyike will be in Nigeria frequently to perform consultations, follow up care and surgeries as needed.
Dr. Emeka Onywewu

Born in Washington D.C., Dr. Onyewu attended elementary school in upstate New York. He completed his high school education in Nigeria before attending Boston University as a commonwealth scholar. He graduated from Boston University School of Medicine in 1990. He completed his general surgery at Howard University Hospital under Dr. Lasalle Leffall, earning the chairman’s award both as the intern of the year and the Chief Resident of the Year. He then completed his plastic surgery fellowship at the Georgetown University Hospital under Dr. Scott Spear. Dr. Onyewu became a diplomat of the American Board of Surgery in 1997.
Dr. Onyewu specializes in surgery of the breast, reconstruction, augmentation, breast lifts and body sculpturing using liposuction. He also has performed many successful procedures to remove Keloid scars.

Dr Julius Oni
Dr. Julius Oni is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He specializes in joint replacement surgery of the hip and knee, minimally invasive surgery, as well as complex and revision arthroplasty. He completed his medical school at Howard University College of Medicine and where he was distinguished in the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society. He then completed his residency at the New York University Hospital for Joint Diseases, a program consistently ranked in the United States top ten for orthopedic surgery. He later completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstructive Surgery at Rush University Medical Center, widely regarded as one of the top adult reconstruction fellowships in the United States. Prior to his appointment at Hopkins, he was a hip and knee surgeon at Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia and held an appointment as a clinical assistant professor at the Thomas Jefferson University Medical College. Dr Oni’s training, research, and experience has focused on investigating and optimizing clinical outcomes after total joint replacements. His research interests include investigation of hip and knee degenerative disease risk factors, avascular necrosis, minimally invasive techniques, clinical outcomes optimization, and the use of augmented reality in joint replacements. He has also written multiple peer reviewed journal articles and book chapters.
